When I was 5 years old, on my grandfather's farm in Missouri, playtime was a bucket of nails, a hammer and a stub of 2x4. I spent many hours bending nails over and being told I was choking the hammer to death. My grandfather was a carpenter, my dad was a keen woodworker and I grew up fascinated by the endless possibilities of wood.

When I look at a piece of wood, I see potential for something new to grow from it. In my mind, that makes wood the ultimate symbol of love. Beauty and strength through growth.

In 2014 I made my first wooden ring. I didn't even know that wooden rings existed or that they had a tradition dating back to 1775 and earlier. I just had an idea of how a tree would make a ring. It would grow and entwine around your finger, and from this idea (and through years of experimentation), I created Spiral Grain, a way of crafting rings that makes them equally strong from every side.

I started making rings for other people in 2017. One year later it was my full time job. The next year my fiancé started running the business with me and wood has been our family's provider ever since.

The best part of my job is connecting with my customers, hearing their story and crafting something that represents it. I truly feel honored to be a small part of those stories.
